Cataclysm & Dodgeball: What You're Actually Playing

Early Access launches June 27th, and it's time to stop being vague about it. Two games are live at launch: Cataclysm and Dodgeball. Here's exactly what they are.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball is team vs team, straight up. The queue starts counting down once there are 2 or more players in, and each team can fill up to 8 players, for a full match of 16 players, 8 a side. Get hit, you're out. Last team standing takes the round.

We're also planning modifiers, twists on the standard rules, for a mid-Early-Access or post-launch update. More on those closer to the time.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm is our battle royale. Queues start at 8 players and scale up to 32. At launch it's Duos only: you and a partner against everyone else, with Squads and Solos planned for after Early Access.

Loot works a lot like Fortnite: crack open crates scattered around the map and gear up from what drops, with your inventory limited to your hotbar. Combat runs on paintball guns, plus custom melee weapons, starting with a hammer that lets you jump up and smash down on whoever's underneath you. Matches are quick, usually 5 to 10 minutes.

Everything runs vanilla server-side. All you need on your end is the Solaris resource pack.

What's Next: Season 1

Dodgeball and Cataclysm are just the start. We're already building Corrupted Caverns, a dungeon-based game, targeting a Season 1 release, and it won't be the only new game to land alongside it. We're keeping the details under wraps for now, but it's coming.

See you on June 27th.
